Cheap Family Vacation Packages: Top 5 Tips

cheap family vacation packagesHere are the Top 5 tips for finding cheap family vacation packages: One of the best things you can do is to look for cheap family vacation packages if you are planning to go on a family vacation or stay at a family resort on a budget.

Family vacation packages are a good choice because they already include in the asking price accommodations, meals, in-room and on-site amenities, and use of the resort’s basic services.

While special services like laundry, dry-cleaning, extra trips outside of the resort, etc., are often not included in the price, getting cheap family vacation packages at least give you an idea of the bulk of your expenses.

It’s a good way to avoid being surprised by sudden big expenses which may lower the amount of cash you have on hand or of you running the risk of maxing out your credit cards.

For tips on how to find and identify cheap family vacation packages, read our advice below:

1. Look for travel packages or travel deals.

The best way would be to go to a travel agent, as it is generally better for you financially to deal with people that you can actually see and talk to. However, it also wouldn’t be a bad idea to look for these deals online.

Many family resorts have websites, which already list down their best deals.

Certain websites also compile travel and vacation packages for certain areas to make your searching easier.

2. Look for family vacation packages that have the most included.

When choosing travel packages, look for ones which already include as many services and amenities as possible.

Almost all family packages already contain accommodation and one or two meals. However, if you can find a deal that is already all-inclusive, meaning it offers accommodation, all the meals, and even discounted prices for resort activities, go for the all-inclusive ones.

3. Choose a Cheaper Time to Travel.

f you want even cheaper rates, you can also choose to travel at a time where it’s off-peak season at your chosen resort.

Summer vacation and even the holidays in December usually mean higher prices, as many people travel during this time. On the other hand, if your children really cannot make it out during non-summer times, you can opt to go to a country whose summer season doesn’t necessarily match yours. This way, you can still find off-season rates.

4. Pre-Book Activities and Tours Not Included in Your Vacation Package.

In case you want to do activities, which are not included in your travel package, you will also be able to save a lot if you pre-book. The thought behind this is largely the same as that behind booking an all-inclusive family vacation deal. When you book ahead, you already know your expenses.

No surprises. In addition, sometimes there are discounts offered online that are not offered once you arrive.

5. Find Ways to Save on Meals on Your Family Vacation

For those with packages where not all meals are included, or if you generally want to save, even on snacks, it’s also good to look for hotel packages where the suite has a kitchen. This will give you the chance to save on meal expenses or even on things as simple as having a cup of coffee in the morning or maybe a late night cocktail.

Having a kitchen is also good if your kids are picky-eaters.

Cheap Last Minute Family Vacations – Tips for Planning

Cheap Last Minute Family Vacations

When you’d like to have a bit of fun before summer ends but don’t really have the serious cash to go somewhere exotic, cheap last minute family vacations can still be a lot of fun.You don’t have to go on a trip halfway around the world or break the bank to have a good time with the people that you love most in the world.

If you are a bit creative, you can actually plan a holiday getaway for less with only a week or so of lead time.

Here are some tips on how to organize cheap last minute family vacations.

Know your budget and your travel dates

Whether you are planning a vacation for two people or for ten, it’s always necessary to know how much you can afford to spend as well as the time when it will be convenient for you to go on holiday. If you have school age children, then you will naturally have to be back before the school term starts.

Also, make sure that you have checked your bank account and brought up a possible vacation leave with your boss before you make any real plans.

Be flexible about the destination

One great thing about cheap last minute family vacations is the element of surprise.

You may not have the luxury of anticipating it for weeks or even months, but you do get the added excitement that spontaneity offers.Bear in mind that you may not be able to plan a trip to Hawaii in two weeks, but you might be able to visit a water park in the next state or take a road trip down to the nearest beach or lakeside resort for a couple of nights’ stay.

Scout possible locations

If you are making your bookings late in vacation season, you may have some trouble getting a room in some of the more popular vacation spots. To increase the chances of getting accommodations, you can choose either a place that does not attract many tourists or one that gets huge volumes during peak season.

The former will not be full, and the latter will have prepared for large volumes of people and may have some cancellations on the books.

Get all-inclusive family packages

An all-inclusive family resort is a lifesaver for people who need to work with a budget but want to have fun with their family anyway. These all-inclusive hotels and resorts will allow you to control spending since they already include rooms, food, and access to beaches or other attractions in a single fee.

If you have smaller children, look for a place that offers child-monitoring services or has a kids’ club. Some cruises will also be a lot cheaper a month before the sailing date as the cruise organizers try to fill up empty cabins. Check the internet for great package deals for families and other great savings. See Cheap Caribbean’s

Top Ten Family Travel Tips

Top Ten Family Travel TipsSo I have had the travel bug for a long time now. I travelled when I was single, when I was married, when I had a family – I even travelled while pregnant! I have travelled with my extended family, with friends, with other couples and with other people’s kids. There are a few things I learned along the way and I would like to share my Top Ten Family Travel Tips with you.

So in David Letterman style…..let’s start with Number 10:

10. Pack Less – The rule of thumb is to lay it all out and then remove at least 1/3. Airlines and getting stricter and you do not need to pay big bucks for overweight baggage fees for those clothes you will not end up wearing anyway.

9. Do a Splurge – I love to get a good deal and stay within my budget as much as anyone BUT it is nice to do a splurge on something – whether it is a really nice meal or one night in a beautiful hotel – treat yourself and make a memory.

8. Reduce pandemonium of travelling with kids. How? Prepare for hunger, headaches and boredom by being prepared. Always have the necessary gear on hand including: wipes, kids’ Tylenol, first aid supplies, toys or coloring books, non-perishable snacks and a treat (chocolate, lollipop) to stave off potential tantrums.

7. Scale back on souvenirs. Don’t let vacation travel fill your house with more clutter! Instead, consider these clutter-free options: collecting small ornaments for a holiday “travel tree”, purchasing postcards, assembling a scrapbook or keeping a personal travel journal to remind you of your trip. Also give kids a souvenir budget to stop the “I want, I want, I want”.

6. Save on Meals – Get a room or a rental with a small kitchen and prepare breakfast or lunch yourself. If kids are in tow – be sure to choose kid friendly restaurants – some will let kids eat free or discounted. Share meals or get happy hour deals – some restaurants really fill your plate – share – your wallet and waistline will appreciate it! An all-inclusive resort where meals are included is also a great option.

5. Plan relaxation days and naps – Rest is important for everyone. Be sure to interchange “busy” days with “rest and relax” days. If you are travelling with small children, be sure to plan out times for naps – very important to avoid tired and cranky kids.

4. Budget Extra Time – Things will always take longer than you expect – especially if you have kids or older family members in tow. Factor in extra time and reduce your stress trying to catch your flight or make it to the next attraction.

3. Plan Ahead – Plan out as much you can ahead of time. Find restaurants in the area, attractions and what you are going to do. I usually type out a daily itinerary with all the important information. You can leave room for spontaneity but you want to relax and enjoy your vacation and not spend it searching for where to eat or what to do or the address of where you are going.

2. Be flexible – Even when you plan ahead and budget extra time – lines will be long, traffic will be heavy, flights will be delayed and children (and adults) will get grumpy. But with just a little planning and an open mind, you will survive. Take a deep breath and find something to enjoy right where you are.

And my number one travel tip for you….. Travel More – The new car, remodelling project, and iPhone can wait instead make memories that your family will remember for a lifetime. If you truly want to travel more, you can make it happen.
